Four Winds News: 2 September 2003 (Update 9/7/03)
I know it's been a long time between updates here, but we've been not so busy and our Members have been hip deep with life and stuff, so sue us. But here's some recent fun and games
MUSICFEST AT St. PAUL THE APOSTLE'S
We have received an invtation to perform at St. Paul the Apostle's in part of an all day interfaith Musicfest, Saturday, November 1st. It looks like a good time and a very sacred and fun event. We've very likely to say "Yes" to this one. We've decide to accept the invitation to do this, we will be resuming a rehearsal schedule in October. Stay tuned for more information!
MUSICFEST AT St. PAUL THE APOSTLE'S
Saturday, November 1st, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
(Four Winds performance time TBA)
St. Paul the Apostle Church on 59th Street and Columbus Avenue, NYC.We have received an invtation to perform at St. Paul the Apostle's in part of an all day Interfaith Musicfest. "We are inviting choirs, gospel singers, performers from all denominations to come and perform." It looks like a good time and a very sacred and fun event. We've decided to say "Yes" to this one. Stay tuned.
QUEENS AIDS MEMORIAL
We would like to say that our appearance at the Annual Queens Interfaith AIDS Memorial on May 31 was an absolute blast. Once again, it was very powerful to represent Earth Religion at this interfaith event. We sounded very good and got a lot of good feedback from the organizers and the guests. We also leaned a couple of new riffs, including the spirit anthem, Never Turning Back, and it's going on our list!
CHELTON LOFT JAM
We followed that up with a informal jam session at Chelton Loft on June 24th. We brought some of the recent material and some old and new faves to a small but very appreciative audience. A good time.
BARDIC CIRCLES
We continued to host our monthly Bardic Circles, through the Summer and they have been quite fun. This has turned out to be a blessing for the Chorus, a chance to just "play" without worrying over much about playlist, concerts, schedule and events and let our hair down and just have a good time., (Note: the September Bardic is moved forward one week due to a schedule conflict with CAP 21 studios.)

Collaborative Arts Project, 18 West 18th Street, 6th Floor, NYCAll Members, Visitors and Guests welcome. Open Bardic Circle in the "Pick, Play or Pass" or other informal format. We'll be singing whatever the heck we feel like. Bring your faves! Donation towards room rental requested.
Note: Member's Business Sessions - 9:00-9:30 - will include setting October rehearsal Schedule.
However there has been some interest in Teaching Circles, particularly for drumming, if there is interest we could be convinced to host one or more of our well received workshops in the fall, possibly after Samhain.
Apologies to Debbie Bregman, who's gift of a wonderful Taos Drum has added powerful spirit voice to the Chorus on the Native side. The occasion of the gift was rather insensitively reported in the News pages back in 2000, and I sincerely regret my sloppy language and muddled thought processes at that time, enduring fire and homelessness and an uncertain future.
