Notice: Due to the World Trade Center Terrorist Attack, we have postponed the premiere of Inanna: Journey of Darkness and Light, till January 4-6, 2002. View Inanna Flyer page
The terrifying destruction of the World Trade Center, the attack on the Pentagon and the lingering aftermath have caused the Chorus to seriously revise our plans for the Fall. The closing of lower manhattan made the scheduled premiere of Inanna: Journey of Light and Darkness impossible, so weÕve decided to postpone the performances to January 4-6, 2002. WeÕve decided to reestablish a light regular schedule in October and November, and resume regular Chorus business. Our community needs our Sacred Bards more than ever. I want to commend the Members and Inanna cast that supported the Healing Circle that was held at Enchantments on the 15th to honor the falled and the efforts of the emergency workers and to empower our warrior spirit.
We also have been given an opportunity to re-center ourselves. Due to the relatively short lead time, the intense preparation for Inanna, beyond the usual Òperformance event stressÓ, also tended to exclude those Members not involved with the project. Well, the Director knows how to take a hit with the two by four and wake up and smell the coffee. We are absolutely going back to our two track system and keeping people involved. We will be presenting a Drumming and Singing Workshop on November 11th
After the success of The Drummers Path: Ritual and Ceremonial Drumming in July ,We expect to do the follow up workshop The Many Song of The Drum: Uniting the Voice and the Beat, now scheduled for Sunday, November 11, mark your calendars.
We are also planning a more relaxed private Solstice Gathering, one evening probably the weekend of December 15-16 for our Members and their guests.
Update: 22 October, 2001
Some follow-up and updates.
MEMBERS SOLSTICE GATHERING
Sunday, December 16, aft-evening
We picked this date as Grove is having Solstice on Saturday. Informal, part party, part bardic, with *just* enough ritual to count. At Kurt and Heather's place in Nanuet. Polite request, please do not double book yourselfs (other than work ) if you can help it, we were still eating chicken from the 9th last week! Members and their guests.INANNA
Friday-Sunday January 4-6 2002
We havent settled on the rehearsal schedule for this, but the plan is to run them in parallel from the Four Winds General Rehearsals so that those members not involved with the show are not excludedAnd with that...
GIVEAWAY V
Spring 2002
We're looking at putting up the next Giveaway Concert in the spring, possibly in late February or March. We're considering an "up" theme... possibly Fools, Jesters and Coyote, like the riotous workshop we did. Hope to have Wolf Spirit Drum and the Realies again.HONOR SONGS
Winter, spring, etc. 2002
Considering current events, this seemed a natural for our next recording project. Advances in technology means we can do good quality One-off of CDs now at low costs. So an opportunity, to serve as bards. Want to collect inspsiring , honoring, and spiritually uplifting stuff. But this time, to be built as a series of mini projects as opposed to one big mega project. Would also be open to guests and Chorus alumnae contributing. Proceeds past production costs would be donated to one of the relief charities.SOUND SYSTEM
We are also tinkling of acquiring a decent sound system for gigs. Council decided to not go cheapest.. so entry level semi-pro PA systems to be looked at. Will have to shop and run the numbers, but would be looking in the $300 range. (still like the Fender Passport.. but $500!!!)That's just where we are. Hope to see you all our Members past and present, friends and fans soon. And feedback, questions, thoughts are very welcome.
