Lakota Wowapi Oti Kin: Lakota Information Home Page
This is a huge and incredibly rich site with an incredible educational library on all things pertaining to the Lakota and Dakota Nations. Tremendous, and truly at an acedemic standard. But let hear it in the author's own words:Welcome to the Lakota Wowapi Oti Kin, The Lakota Information Home Page. This is a joint project by Martin Broken Leg at Augustana College, Sioux Falls, SD, and Raymond Bucko, S.J. at Le Moyne College, Syracuse, NY. This page deals with Lakota and Dakota peoples. These distinct but related groups are sometimes referred to as Sioux or Siouan peoples. This page does not represent an officially sanctioned voice for any of these peoples either as individuals or as corporate groups.
The authors of this page hope to make this site both a location for a multiplicity of voices from various communities, native, scholarly as well as other groups, and to provide an ongoing dialogue on contemporary issues. Feel free to interact with the various displays by writing to the keepers of the page. All opinions presented in a respectful way are worthy of inclusion.
This page contains a record of free exchange by a multiplicity of people, Lakota, Native and non-Native representing a multiplicity of opinions. The authors of this page are consciously trying to present all sides of some thorny issues.
One of the better ways to show respect for a people and culture is to learn
as much as you can about it. This site is an excellent starting point.
